Charles Sturt University is Australia's largest regional university, with a strong focus on empowering communities through accessible, high-quality education and research. With campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, and Canberra, plus study centres in Sydney and Melbourne. Guided by the ethos yindyamarra winhanganha, ‘the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in’, Charles Sturt University is committed to regional impact, sustainability, and innovation.

Charles Sturt is looking for a talented, self-motivated person to fill the position of Chief of Staff to the Vice-Chancellor - an individual who is looking for a refreshing, empowering role where you can see first-hand the impact you have on regional communities. In this role you will be a senior advisor and trusted partner to the Vice-Chancellor, providing leadership and oversight of priority initiatives across the University and fostering collaboration and integration across divisions.

The Chief of Staff ensures the Vice-Chancellor’s priorities are advanced effectively, coordinates executive-level initiatives and enables the smooth operation of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. This includes providing high-level advice and decision support, overseeing governance processes, representing the Vice-Chancellor when required, and strengthening relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Chief of Staff ensures the Vice-Chancellor has the information and institutional alignment needed to lead with impact.

To be a strong contender for this important role you will excel in working in complex environments, be forward thinking, and have the ability to analyse and distil key issues and ‘clear the noise’  by identifying options and providing solutions. You will deliver results through strong collaboration and genuine stakeholder relationships based on trust, and  your integrity, judgement, and discretion will be paramount. In addition you will have first-class communication skills.
