About us

The Southern NSW Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Charles Sturt University leads a consortium to deliver people-centred innovation, research, commercialisation and adoption as part of the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund.

The Hub is a consortium of seven regional partners including industry and community groups, researcher organisations and education institutions, resource management organisations and government agencies.

Hosted by Charles Sturt University, the Hub’s primary mission is to support land managers and rural communities in the Southern NSW region in preparing for and mitigating drought impacts and capitalising on opportunities for recovery from drought. We achieve this by working with our partner organisations to provide farmers and communities with valuable knowledge, tools, and practices and by undertaking research were there are knowledge gaps. The Hub acts as a bridge, connecting them with local experts, innovative practices, and cutting-edge research and technologies.

We are a university of the land and people of our regions. True to the character of regional Australia we have gumption, we have soul and we collaborate with others. We develop holistic, far-sighted people who help their communities grow and flourish.

The Wiradjuri phrase yindyamarra winhanganha means the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in. This phrase represents who we are at Charles Sturt University – our ethos. It comes from traditional Indigenous Australian knowledge, but it also speaks to the mission of universities – to develop and spread wisdom to make the world a better place.

Harnessing technology, we thrive as a distributed yet connected community, welcoming and engaging with people across Australia and the world.
