The role

  • Continuing, Full Time
  • Level B - $107,098 to $126,971 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Level C - $130,939 to $150,813 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Wagga Wagga

We are currently seeking applications from registered veterinarians or graduates in biological/biomedical science, veterinary technology or veterinary nursing, with relevant veterinary clinical experience to undertake teaching and engage in academic research activities.

The successful candidate will focus on delivering teaching excellence in a number of areas including best practice in low stress animal handling, best practice for internal medicine, surgery and anaesthesia, emergency and critical care and support for the veterinary professional in clinical pathology and diagnostic techniques and imaging.

The position will also be required to undertake research, generate publications, and participate in research activities and collaborations where appropriate.

About you 

  • A degree in Veterinary Science plus relevant postgraduate or equivalent experience, accreditation and standing, including eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW OR a qualification in biological/biomedical science, veterinary technology or veterinary nursing plus relevant postgraduate or equivalent experience AND a minimum of five (5) years professional experience.
  • A record of research or professional activity relevant to the discipline area
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality student-centred learning and teaching
  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to build networks and partnerships within the veterinary industries to achieve outcomes
  • For level C applicants, demonstrated ability to provide leadership within the discipline related to teaching and/or research or professional activity.

The School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences provides more than twenty undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Faculty of Science and Health. The School has substantial infrastructure of a high standard for training veterinary undergraduates and postgraduates, including access to on-campus veterinary enterprises in Wagga. The School has a strong research profile, including significant numbers of undergraduate honours and higher research degree students. Relevant research strengths include equitation science, animal health, welfare and diseases, epidemiology, biosecurity, toxicology, animal models of human conditions, animal production and sustainable agriculture.
