The Role

  • Fixed Term (up to March 2024), Full Time
  • Level 6 - $79,051 to $85,546 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Wagga Wagga

As the Mentoring Officer, you will be responsible for the refinement, development, growth, implementation and evaluation of peer-to-peer mentoring programs for students at Charles Sturt, provided as part of an inclusive and holistic approach to enhancing the student experience.

You will consult and collaborate with other areas across the University to continuously identify improvements, lead program innovations and assist with the development and implementation of initiatives related to students' transition, engagement and success.

To be successful you will have:

  • A relevant degree or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Experience in developing and managing peer support programs and comprehensive knowledge of the issues associated with student transition and success
  • Proven ability to develop high-quality written materials including proposals, briefs, reports and process documentation

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) has oversight for leading and driving a student-centred culture across the Charles Sturt University student lifecycle, from awareness through to graduation and alumni.  The Portfolio supports the University's objectives to provide sector-leading student recruitment and engagement practices, to ensure our students feel well supported on their learning journey whilst developing a lifelong connection to the Charles Sturt University community.  

The Portfolio includes the Divisions of Student Administration, Student Services, Marketing and Communication and the offices of Advancement and Student Safety and Wellbeing.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) is a member of the Vice-Chancellor's Leadership Team. As such, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) also assists the Vice-Chancellor generally in providing positive leadership and management for the University.

The Division of Student Services offers a wide range of services to new and ongoing Charles Sturt University students, whether they are on campus or online. The division incorporates the following units; Indigenous Success, Participation and Pathways, Student Communications, Study Skills and UniLife

The Division has over 200 FTE staff and an annual operating budget of AUD$38 million.

The Division contributes to the student-centred approach, student retention strategies and student satisfaction within the University by working collaboratively with Faculties and Divisions to enhance the students’ University experience.
